Religious Education Curriculum P-12
In 2013, the Religious Education Curriculum P-12 was promulgated by Archbishop Mark Coleridge for use in all Catholic and ecumenical schools in the Archdiocese of Brisbane. It is envisaged that this curriculum will also be widely used across Queensland.
At the recent launch, Archbishop Coleridge said it was the beginning of a new era in the way religious education is taught.
“It is very good that the Brisbane Catholic Education Office has read the signs of the times and taken the complex decision to review and re-create the religious education curriculum. My hope is students will, through this curriculum, understand the Catholic faith more deeply but most importantly enter into a profound personal encounter with Christ, crucified and risen, for that is the heart of Christianity.”
Parents have full access to the Religious Education Curriculum P-12 via the Brisbane Catholic Education public website: http://www.rec.bne.catholic.edu.au/Pages/default.aspx. It is also available in hard copy. A number of ‘learning bytes’ are also being developed. Learning bytes are resources specifically designed to support the Religious Education Curriculum P-12 and assist teachers in their work of planning for learning, teaching and assessing. Teachers, parents and students are also able to use a smart phone App to search for theological background.
